The Magic Misfits
By: Neil Patrick Harris
My friend Audrey recommended The Magic Misfits to me, so I bought a copy. She was right; it is really good.
The Magic Misfits is about a boy named Carter. He lives with his uncle, who takes his ability to do magic tricks, and uses it to steal. One day Carter runs away. He goes to a new town and meets someone named Mr. Vernon. Mr. Vernon helps him, and soon he has some new friends and a place to live. His friends are Leila, Ridley, Olly and Izzy, and Theo. There is a circus in town, and B. B. Bosso owns it. The 5 kids figure out that he is up to something and hatch a plan to stop Bosso.
Most readers-including me sometimes- are drawn to the main character, but in this book I like some of the other characters better. A few are Leila and Ridley. Leila was adopted by Mr.Vernon. She is an escape artist and is really good at it. Her role model is Harry Houdini. She is really happy most of the time.
I also like Ridley. She is good at transformation. She sits in a wheelchair and tells Carter not to ask about it or he will get a bloody nose. She has a bit of an attitude before you get to know her.
This book is for fourth-sixth graders.
I give this book 4 out of 5 bookworms.
