Poet: The Remarkable Story of George Moses Horton By Don Tate

Poet: The Remarkable Story of George Moses Horton
Written and Illustrated by Don Tate

Don Tate will be at the 2019 Truman State University Children’s Literature Festival. I am so excited to meet him and get my book signed. Poet is a non-fiction book.

Poet is about an African-American boy when slavery was a thing. His name was George. George loved words. He found a book about spelling and taught himself to read. He created his own poetry. If you found that interesting then you should read the book.

My favorite characters are George and his mother. Since you haven’t  heard anything about George’s mother I will tell you about her. George’s mother is very kind. When George was interested in learning how to read she gave him her only book for him to practice. George’s mother is very kind.

This book is for second-fifth graders.

I give this book 4 ¾ out of 5 bookworms.   Bookworm
