Amina’s Voice
By: Hena Khan
Hena Khan will be at the 2019 Truman State University Children’s Literature Festival. I am super excited to meet her and get my book signed!
Amina’s Voice is about a girl named Amina who just started sixth grade. Already her life has started to change,; her best friend Soojin wants to change her name to something more “American” like Susan, and now Soojin is hanging out with Emily more and more. Emily is the girl who made fun of Amina and Soojin all through elementary school. And as if that’s not enough her Thaya Jaan is coming from Pakistan to stay for a few months, and Amina’s dad wants her to be perfect.
My favorite character is probably either Amina or Soojin. Since you have already heard a lot about Amina I am going to talk about Soojin. I like Soojin because she is very forgiving. Emily was really mean to Soojin and Amina in elementary school, and Soojin becomes Emily’s friend right when Emily needs a friend.
This book is for fourth-sixth grade.
I give this book 4 ⅞ bookworms out of 5 bookworms.
