The Science of Breakable Things by Tae Keller

The Science of Breakable Things
By: Tae Keller

Tae Keller will be at the 2019 Truman State University Children’s Literature Festival. I am so excited to talk to her and get my book signed.

The Science of Breakable Things is about a girl named Natalie. Her mom has been acting weird lately and not coming out of her room .Natalie isn’t allowed to go into her room anymore and is curious about her mom. Meanwhile, at school Mr. Neely is starting a unit in science about coming up with a question and working hard to find an answer. Mr. Neely also wants Natalie to compete in a egg drop competition. When Natalie finds out there is prize money she decides to sign up. If she wins, she can take her mom (who is a botanist) to New Mexico to see the Cobalt Blue Orchid flowers that she is so interested in. But can Natalie win the contest?

My favorite character is either Natalie or Twig, but I will talk about Twig. Twig is Natalie’s best friend. She is in Natalie’s group for the egg drop competition. Twig is really daring and enthusiastic about a lot of things. She has some funny ideas for the egg drop too, like Cotton Ball Heaven, Up, Up, and an Egg, and Duct Tape Mummy.

This book is for fourth-seventh grade.

I give this book 5 out of 5 bookworms.   Bookworm
