Ivy & Bean #11: One Big Happy Family
By: Annie Barrows
*This book is not out yet. I was lucky enough to to get an advanced copy before it was out for my blog so that I could review it for you!. (Thanks Annie Barrows!)
I love the Ivy & Bean series. I started reading them in first grade. I still love the series, and I have been wanting Annie Barrows to write another book ever since I finished the series the first time, and now she has! Ivy & Bean are adventurous and fun to read about.
Ivy & Bean One Big Happy Family is one the kids in Ivy & Bean’s class saying only children are spoiled. Ivy gets worried that she’s spoiled and thinks she needs a sister to not be spoiled, so first Ivy & Bean try to turn Ivy’s baby doll into a real baby. When that doesn’t work they ask the gods for a baby. After that they come up with a few other crazy ideas. Read the book to find out more.
Bean is my favorite because, for example, one time in the book Bean’s big sister, Nancy, starts doing yoga, and when she does downward dog Bean says that Nancy doesn’t look like a dog and then Bean gets down on her hands and knees, sticks her tongue out, and starts barking. When Bean does that Nancy starts yelling at Bean and then Bean says, “I thought yoga was supposed to make you calm.” I thought that part was funny.
This book is for first-second graders, but Ivy and Bean lovers like me will like the book past second grade (I am going into fourth grade).
I give this book 5 out of 5 bookworms.
