The Boxcar Children
By: Gertrude Chandler Warner
The Boxcar Children is a SUPER long series but the one I am going to write about is the first one.The boxcar children are very brave and adventurous.
The Boxcar Children is about a group of four children who have lost their parents. They find a boxcar and start to live in it. Henry is the oldest of the four children. Jessie is the second oldest and is the cook. Violet is the second youngest and likes to invent and make things. Benny is the youngest and learns to read. They earn money by Henry working for a doctor and his wife.
Read the book to find out what happens.
My favorite characters are Benny and Watch. Watch is a dog they find during on of their adventures. I like Benny and Watch because they are best friends, and when they were teaching Benny to read, Jessie put down a paper that said “see” and a paper that said “the.” Jessie told Benny to point at the word “see.” Benny wasn’t sure which was which and Watch put his paw on “see.” On the next question Benny wanted to answer correctly before Watch.
This book is for third-fourth graders.
I give this book 4 out of 5 bookworms.
