Half Upon a Time is about Jack, the son of Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack is tired of practicing battling dragons and rescuing princesses. But when a girl, May, falls out of the sky right in front of Jack, things start to get a little more interesting.
May’s grandmother, who may just be Snow White, was captured, and May is determined to save her. The problem is, May’s grandmother had given May a necklace with a piece of the magic mirror, which used to belong to the Wicked Queen, and the Wicked Queen would do anything to get it back.
Will May and Jack be able to find the Magic Mirror, save May’s grandmother, and stop the Wicked Queen?
If you like twisted fairy tales, fairy tales, or fantasy, then you will like Half Upon a Time. The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani review that I did is another book in this genre. I always enjoy reading this type of book where the characters are familiar, but the story is not.
There are three books in the series, Half Upon a Time, Twice Upon a Time, and Once Upon the End. So far, I have only read this book, but stay tuned to my blog because I intend to read the others as well and may update you.
This book is for 4th graders to 8th graders. It is 385 pages long.
I give this book 4 1/2 out of 5 bookworms.
