The Great Wall of Lucy Wu By Wendy Wan-Long Shang

The Great Wall of Lucy Wu
By: Wendy Wan-Long Shang

I LOVED this book. It was really good. Wendy Wan-Long Shang will be at the 2019 Truman State University Children’s Literature Festival. I am super excited!

The Great Wall of Lucy Wu is about a Chinese-American girl named Lucy. She is going to have the perfect year. Her sister is going to college, so Lucy will get her room to herself. Lucy is going to go out for captain of the sixth grade basketball team, and as a sixth grader Lucy gets to rule the school. That all changes when Lucy finds out her great aunt is coming from China and is going to stay at the Wu’s house for a couple of months! And she is sleeping in Lucy’s room! Then her parents make her go to Chinese School instead of basketball. Lucy’s year is ruined!

My favorite character is probably Yi Po. Yi Po is Lucy’s great aunt who came from China. She is super nice. She is even nice to Lucy when Lucy acts kind of rude to her. I have a few more reasons, but they would spoil the story.

Another one of my favorite characters is Madison. Madison is Lucy’s best friend. She is very supportive when Lucy can’t play basketball. She also is really nice to Yi Po.

This book is for third -fifth grade.

I give this book 5 out of 5 bookworms.
